Enter Tibet’s spiritual capital at a slow, altitude-friendly pace—centered on Lhasa’s sacred sites, living monastic culture, and sweeping plateau scenery. Hands-on thangka class and a Tibetan home visit make this more than a “checklist trip.”
Who it’s for:
Travelers drawn to mountain panoramas and spiritual culture who can accept high altitude and prefer reflective, immersive experiences.
Timed entry; unhurried climbs with view breaks; afternoon Jokhang; walk the Barkhor kora among pilgrims. Optional culture dinner show.
Explore the Dalai Lamas’ summer palace; 2–3h thangka workshop (outline/coloring) and keep your piece; ~15:00 attend Sera debates.
Morning Drepung academies and assembly hall; Tibetan Medicine Museum/clinic for pulse-diagnosis demo; late-day home visit—make momo, share stories, receive a blessing cord.
Drive via Gampa La pass viewpoint (prayer flags, sweeping lake view); lakeside stroll/photo & picnic (seasonal). Alternative (weather/road): Ganden monastery ridge kora.
Add Ganden kora + Namtso Lake long day (seasonal, 10–12h), or expand monastery/art time; or extend to Gyantse–Shigatse (if permits/time allow).
A Tibet Entry Permit is required; we arrange it once you provide passport + valid China visa scans ~20–30 days in advance. Independent travel isn’t allowed—guide/vehicle are mandatory.
We move slowly, hydrate, avoid over-exertion, and can supply portable oxygen if needed. Consult your doctor if you have heart/lung conditions.
Apr–Jun & Sep–Oct (clear views); Nov–Feb offers crisp skies and fewer visitors (colder); Jul–Aug is rainy season with afternoon showers.
No flash inside temples; some halls forbid photos; always ask before shooting people; drones require special permits—do not fly without authorization.
Vegetarian & mild menus can be arranged; try momo and Tibetan butter tea during the home visit.
